I have always enjoyed walking and have only participated in functional running.

When I ran.

My definition of Functional Running: If I was crossing a street and a large vehicle started careening towards me at ridiculously high speeds – I would run to get out of the way.

After 9 weeks of following the podcasts for coach to 5K, I can honestly say,  “I don’t enjoy running. I have not experienced a runners high. I did not lose any weight and I do not have more energy.”

If this program came with a guarantee. I’d be asking for my money back. I followed the directions and after 9 weeks, I am not running a 5K in 30 minutes, it’s more like a 3K.

When I text my daughter my news, she replied, “I am certain you can walk faster.”

When I walked.

So, I tried a little experiment and walked the same route I had previously wogged. (It’s like walking with more wiggle) And yes, I can almost walk as fast as I ran or wogged.

So, why would I sign up for a 5K the Okefenokee Critter Crawl? The t-shirt is cute, I am volunteering at the refuge, and….

I like to have obtainable realistic goals tied to milestone birthdays.

Before I’m 60 (I have a year) – I’d like to run a 5K with 15 minute miles.

Of course, I’d also like to have published a best selling novel. So, I either have to get back to writing or more people have to suddenly start purchasing…The Perfect Country and Western Story.
